General Rules OOC:1. Read the rules. Not reading the rules results in Tiggy getting annoyed. That’s bad. Some of them may seem harsh, but what’s life without a little bit of obstruction? 2. Keep profanity to a minimum. Swearing is allowed but keep it mild, okay? 3. No fighting between members. Online bulling is possible and I do not tolerate it. At all. Zilch. Nada. Friendly differentiation opinions, yes, fighting/flaming. No. 4. Do not promote links in other boards except the link one. It is possible that other people will not see them else where, will not bother to look for them but most likely, I’ll get annoyed. Don’t ask why, I just will. 5. If you join and RP for a bit then decide you don’t like this RPG, please tell me so instead of just disappearing, This will allow me to put up any active wolves for adoption and delete your account so nothing gets sent to you when you are not coming here. The feedback will help me sort out problems too. 6. Text-talk. Nevernevernever do it in the RP section. Ever. Full punctuation, “speech marks” (or bold type) is easy. Capitals on names and beginnings of sentences are not hard either. I sound picky, but really, it helps. My written English skills picked up a lot from RPing regularly. Seriously. So no text-talk, please? Bribery, I like you more if you type properly. Spelling mistakes I don’t mind, I make them all the time, but please, not text-talk *repeats till your brain goes numb*

IC: Oaken Claims is close to realistic as I like. Talking is allowed but random magical powers and other silly things like that are not. Seeing as wolves are territorial, so are these ones. It is not likely that a wolf will be able to gold a large territory so some applications for extra claims may be declined. It’s fair and it’s real. So, follow these simple guidelines and I’ll love you forever.

-> Power Playing – I trust you to use your judgement. If your wolf cannot win a fight, and it knows it, back away from a fight. If your wolf cannot win a fight, by all means go ahead and start a fight but remember, as a functioning human being, you must moderate the fights you get them into. Sexist but true, female wolves will not likely win against a male. Adolescents will not win against adults. Makes sense. The stronger, faster, better wolf will win. There may be other factors that will affect a fight, (i.e. injuries) so if you are not sure who will win a fight, PM me and I’ll work something out. Between the two members, you must figure who will win before hand and then you can RP the fight till the decided wolf wins – killing or not – or the weaker wolf backs off. Fights can turn into vicious battles or just almost tame fights to work out the dominance structure.

-> Dominance Structure – Wolves are group creatures, and as group creatures, they manage themselves in hierarchies. Oaken Claims has a basic hierarchy system shown as follows:
Alpha - Male and female pair, both good leaders for the pack, make final decisions and keep the pack united. Beta - Male and female pair, secondary in the pack only to the alphas, can make decisions about wolves joining the pack and where to hunt etc. Kappa – Four – Bodyguards to the alpha and beta pair. Good fighters and content to stay third ranked in the pack. Dominance fights sometimes occur but they are never usually serious, only confirming who the better fighter is. Durians – Four or five wolves that carry orders to the pack. Usually good hunters and lead hunts if the alpha or beta pair is busy. Verso – These are the subordinates of the pack, the large majority of the pack are in this level. They are only dominant to the Omegas. Omegas – Traitors/outlaws of the pack. These usually choose to leave the pack but some stay, hanging on the edges of the pack trying to get into the alphas or betas good books again.
Alphas rule, indefinitely. Unless of course wolves challenge them and win in a fight. Even then, these challengers, Fenrir, can be rejected by the pack. Power in numbers. The beta pair can make most decisions that are not life threatening for the pack, these decisions rest on the alphas shoulders. Durians and Versos are on the same level of dominance, almost. The Durians tend to be in special favour with the alphas or betas. Alpha, beta and kappa wolves can mate, the litter of puppies born to be looked after by the whole pack. For wolves to rise up in the pack hierarchy, they must win dominance fights. Challenges are made between the lower wolf and the upper wolf and the winner keeps or takes the position. Alpha and beta wolves always mate with their pairs; kappas do not have to have their mate in the kappa level and can mate with other wolves lower in the pack. Durians can also do this but the must seek special permission from both alphas.

-> Mating – Graphic mating is not allowed in posts. Once wolves have decided to have a litter, the players must post the wolf’s stats on the New Life board and then wait till the puppies’ stats are posted. This can take up to a week, usually on purpose, so do not pester the staff until after that deadline. Thank you.

-> And lastly, updates – If something happens in the pack, (e.g. a rise in dominance or a new wolf joining the pack) and the staff don’t notice, post something on the questions and comments board or alternatively, PM one of the staff.

That’s it, windy and boring I know but I like rules, they are fun. Gives me something to do. Ah yes, one more thing. Alpha and Beta wolves can be on more than one topic at once as long as one topic is about a request for entry to the pack. All other wolves have to leave one topic before posting in another. Just one of my pet peeves. Thanks for reading, Tiggs PS: To make sure your join form is accepted when you post, please place the wolf’s name in the thread title and put the phrase, “Oaken Claims – See, hear, scent, live.” At the top of the form, thanks again.
